Lethbridge

Saturday November 17, 2001

Investigators present: Jay, Tom, Jacquie, Adrian, Stacey

Visit length: 8hours (Lethbridge is located approximately 150km south of Calgary)

We arrived in Lethbridge in the early afternoon to do some research on the house at the local library. The house we were investigating was built in 1911 and is filled with lots of character. The current residents bought it in 1999. The house is currently undergoing major renovations and, based on our experience, this may be one of the causes of the recent increase in paranormal activity. The non-human residents generally do not like change and tend to react by making themselves more obvious.

We found through our research, and confirmed it with the current owners, that this house was used as a boarding house by whom ever owned it. That means that this house would have seen many different energies over the years, much more than a typical house with only a few residents. The house was divided up into four self-contained units.

The current owner of the house spoke with Jay several times via e-mail about the goings on at her home. She felt the non-human residences most directly affected her kids. The oldest child has conversations with someone he calls Bert. When coming up from the basement office the owner feels as though she is being chased. She also feels one spot in her kitchen is colder than the rest of the kitchen. In addition, the 'ghost' actually poked her in the back recently. Unfortunately, all the feelings that she and her family have felt are impossible to substantiate.

While the team conducted a tour of the house, Jay sat with the owners and went over the questionnaire. During this time they asked if he felt cold. He said yes, but thought they just kept the house cool. However, the temperature in the house was 21 degrees Celsius. The rest of the team was trying to get into the attic but each member was not allowed in. This was not due to anything besides the fact they felt they were not welcome. When they came down to tell Jay, he went up and was the first non-family member allowed into the attic. Adrian and Tom came up to assist Jay in finding a spot where it appeared something was leaking through into the oldest child's room. The substance was clearly visible on the ceiling of the boys room. However, after taking exact measurements as to the location of the substance we could not find anything in the attic to account for the 'leak'. The substance could be best described as petroleum based and had no odor. Even after several washings, the substance would reappear in the same pattern. This happened while we were there.

The basement in this home also had some activity. The team collectively felt that there was something in the basement that did not want us down there. More specifically, the office area of the basement is where Jacquie felt especially uneasy. The video we took of this room turned up nothing. Something interesting happened  when we were taking pictures of the exterior, though. We took some shots of the basement office window. Jacquie had two 35 mm cameras that would not work when pointed at this window, but were fine otherwise. Jay was also there and able to take a picture which turned out to have an orb. Out of the entire team, Jacquie was the most affected by what is in this house. It did not allow her to take pictures on numerous occasions, and also brushed by her head while she was in the basement with Tom.

Jay also seemed to be followed by the 'ghosts'. He felt numerous cold spots which seemed to be directed specifically at him. While in the main floor guest room, he crouched on the floor asking everyone to leave so he could get a feel to the room. Suddenly, the whole left side of his body got very cold. He called Jacquie to take a picture immediately with his camera. She also brought in the digital thermostat and noted the temperature was two degrees lower than our readings a few minutes before. We left the room with the thermostat and closed the door. Seven minutes later, we went in and the temperature was a full five degrees lower, in the same spot.

We left the house feeling we had conducted a thorough investigation. We also had the feeling, not from the homeowners, that we had overstayed our welcome. The house does have some activity in it. During our history investigation, we found stories about a previous owner who had a terrible drinking problem and died either in the home or hospital. That person may have decided to return to the place where they felt most comfortable. With a boarding house comes many different energies, lives and experiences. Our home owners do not want to get rid of this energy (entity?), they just want to know they are safe and who the energy belonged to. This case is still open.
