This investigation was brought about by our Lorie spreading the good word about the great work CAPI does. A friend from her office asked if we might be able to help them with what they think is a ghost. After going through our questionnaire with the homeowners, we felt this would be a good opportunity to help this family with their persistent questions of sanity.
Jay and Jacquie had visited a few days earlier to assess the location. During this initial visit a weird thing happened that had never happened before nor has it happened since. Jay hung his coat on the back of a chair and made his way to the couch when his cell phone began to ring. (*Note from Jay: Please understand, I am not the most popular person, nor am I a social butterfly like others with cell phones. Basically, I rarely receive any phone calls and when I do, I always joke that I don’t know anybody who would call me.*) Anyway, the phone rang, Jay made his joke and then he answered it. It was his wife asking him what he wanted. Jay had no idea what she was talking about. As it turns out, neither had called. Perhaps the phone called home all by itself, even though the number pad lock was on. We are puzzled as to how this happened. Still no solution. Weird.
This private residence is located in an newer area close to the international airport in a neighborhood where it is hard to differentiate one house from the next. It is not where one would expect to find the typical “haunted house”, but as we have experienced before with this type of situation, it is a family member who has passed on and not some residual energy/spirit from a previous owner (this home was built for the current owners). It turns out that both the male and female homeowners have seen a full floating apparition of what they believe is the husband’s mother. These sightings occurred at different times. However, each sighting was on the stairs leading to the second story. The apparition had a black sweater carefully placed on elderly shoulders. We were invited to give our impressions and feelings of their home and what we thought this presence might be.
As always, the team entered the location with no specifics of the case and therefore no preconceived ideas. We all felt different things in different areas, but the consensus was the north wall of the master bedroom and the south wall of the dining room where there were feelings of a female presence. The homeowners allowed Jay to go through some family photos and he found a particularly interesting one that has a large orb over the right shoulder of the male. The pictures taken by the team members have had varying results. Some had no returns, while others had orbs floating everywhere. Two taken by Tom shortly after loading his camera are interesting. And a number taken by Stacey and Adrian have a bunch of orbs. (*Note from Jay: I have my pictures back from this investigation and have nothing on them that could be paranormal, although looking at me in pictures makes me wonder.*)
We agree with the homeowners that there may be something paranormal in their home. The team felt that a benign female presence was with the family. It may be there to calmly reassure them that home is a refuge from their tumultuous lives. Hopefully, we have helped the homeowners with their questions about sanity and left them believing that there is nothing to fear.
